Why does the fan from my a/c unit not work?

I have a York a/c unit. Occasionally my fan blade will not rotate whenever the unit comes on. I then have to manually use an object to push the blade in order for the fan to start rotating. Although this ends up working, sometimes it takes a little while for it to start rotating.

What could be causing this? Could it be the fan motor, compressor, capacitors, etc...?

It could be the run capacitor or the motor itself going bad. You can find a step by step troubleshooting guide on the air conditioner page at http://www.hvac-for-beginners.com
Reply:sounds like yuor fan need bushing (need fan motor change wires)or you could pull it out and spray motor oil into its rotating shaft and if did not work, call repairman and tell them your fan need rebushing.fan capacitor and other works fine because if capacitor shorted, then no matter how u push the blade to get it started spinning,it's not gonna work.
Reply:It sounds like the windings or brushes inside of the motor are going bad. This could be due to a dust buildup, corrosion from exposure to water, it ran out of grease, or simple wear and tear if used a lot. If you have a model number, you can look up the fan motor to replace it on this site... http://www.apwagner.com
Reply:replace motor and capictor
Reply:fan motor capacitor
