How long did it take to recover from c section pain?

I was just wondering how long it took most women to recover from their c section pain, and the wound to heal. It's been a little over a week since mine and i dont really have any pain. My staples are already out and my doc says i can remove the tape if i want. I drove about the 3rd day after the c section and i have been going to the store almost everyday. I just have heard alot of women say that they couldnt drive for like 4 weeks and they couldnt even bathe themselves. I was just wanting to see if anyone else had a fairly quick recovery. Alot of women have been telling me I shouldnt drive or anything yet, but if it doesnt hurt and you can buckle up and all that, why wouldnt you. ya know?

Well, I don't see anything wrong with driving but however, You may want to be safe when it comes to lifting.Heavy objects or things can cause a sudden pulling in that area and it to can get really ugly and become reopened or ripped. This can most definitely strain your healing process by sending you right back to the Hospital for more stitches and staples.Remember you are trying to recover. Some Women recovers faster than others.Just like you I have also heard different things for example, you can't eat certain foods or you will start to have birthing pains again.Believe me, It gets weirder every time. But however, from experience I have also had a C Section and I was up and doing things in good timing. It Sounds Like you are doing great. As far as bathing for me, My Doctor suggested that I take Showers instead for about 2 weeks than Back to my normal bathing routine. But besides all of this, again I think you are doing good,Keep up with your recovery and Congratulations on your new Baby.
Reply:nowadays i dont feel you have so much of pain, after your C section, my was also the same like you...

but i would still advise you to take care, as now i feel the pain sometimes.. i feel that time i should have taken a gud rest,,, so that now i would feel gud..
Reply:I've had two sections, and the pain was most intense during the first few days and while breast-feeding those days. Within a week, I too was up and on the go, but didn't want to drive. I made hubby do that just because I wanted to. A c-section is major abdominal surgery and while the outer layer of skin may heal within days, it takes weeks for the muscle layers underneath to properly heal. Muscle is not generated nearly as fast as skin and therefore is slower to heal.

Suddenly stopping in a car could also cause major internal damage with little skin damage in this condition. Considering what you just went through, wouldn't you want to rest up and take advantage of people offering to take you places or chauffeur you and baby around? I just wanted to rest up and enjoy the view from the rear seat next to my little baby!!!

But to answer the question, pain was gone within a few days (less than week), external wound healed within 1 to 2 weeks, but internally, muscle layers several weeks.

At your six week check-up, Dr usually feels and presses on your abdomen to assess the healing condition of the muscles and gauge your reaction to the poking and prodding as an indicator, also of course, by exactly what they feel as well!
Reply:About two weeks for me and I was back to normal. I took showers for myself and stuff though from day one. The pain subsides gradually and by 1 to 1.5 weeks should be fine, maybe occasional cramping or little twinges. The only thing I would say about waiting to drive until your wound heals completely is that in case you were to have an accident it could very well cause a much more major problem. I also had to be careful with my last one because we lived on the third floor and lots of steep stairs, wow that sucked. But overall with my three c-sections I recovered fairly quickly, and after the first few days I actually felt pretty good.
Reply:I had c section on the 14/8/07 and i was fine within 4 days . I bathe myself from day one

its really up to you to keep things as normal as possible i would say it psychological
Reply:One of the big differences is the type of cut they made to do the C-section... if you had the across the body kind that is way down under your belly they say your recovery is faster and easier.

Whereas the emergency type that are up and down from your belly button to your pubic hair are harder to recover from and heal after. Largely because the cut is more extensive and the way they tear at your muscles is more extensive.

My first c-section was done in an emergency and so my second one my ob had to do it the same way but I must say that heal from this one is going better than the first but it is slow going. I am on day five and while I was showering and a lot of thing right away even riding in the car is painful so, for me driving is a dream yet! I was told three weeks to drive.

But the pain is going away pretty quickly and right now it mostly the muscles inside... The weirdest thing has been when it hurt to pee. Not like from the folly or a bladder infection but like things settling down inside my belly as my bladder emptied! The first two days after the folly that was horrible but it is even getting better.
Reply:I had an emergency c-section, and I can tell you that they don't cut you up and down from the belly button, they can do a bikini cut. I didn't heal as fast as I would have liked. It took me about 8 weeks. I couldn't drive at all, carry mt daughter in her car seat, bend over, shower by myself, or anything! It was hard. Every women is different. We all heal different, some faster than others. My sister felt great the day she left the hospital, Needed no medication for pain and could drive too. She was like you. They say not to drive for at least 6 weeks even if you are feeling great because accidents may occur and hurt you severly. It's only a recommendation though. I say good for you for being able to go about you day without any troubles. Keep on driving. You sure are one of the lucky ones! Take Care %26amp; Be safe!
Reply:I was fine two days later. I still didn't drive until two weeks later or lift anything heavier than 10 lbs for three weeks because I was afraid of internal bleeding. Now, at ten weeks postpartum, I jog, go on amusement park rides, lift weights, etc. Numbness may last up to a year at the incision and surrounding tissues my doctor said, but by three months you are fully healed.
Reply:I was fine in a week too.
Reply:Actually it's not that women can't drive after a C section, it's that they should NOT drive after a C section for at least six weeks. The reason being that a C section is MAJOR abdominal surgery and IF the woman is driving get s into an accident her stomach hitting the steering wheelalong with the pressure from the air bag and seat belt can cause major internal bleeding followed by her death. When I had my C section I listened to the instructions my doctor gave me...I wanted to be sure I'd be alive to raise my child. I suggest you follow your doctor's orders, it takes over a year to completely heal from abdominal surgery. Unless you want to wind up with a mass of scar tissue and hernias for the rest of your life that will require more abdominal sugeries...
Reply:They do not want you to drive because if you have an accident or slam on your breaks and get jarred forward your incision could pop open. Just because you feel fine does not mean your body is fully healed. However if going to the store is more important then your health to each their own.
Reply:I was fine in a week.I think it depends from person to person. Some women feel pain for longer because they are more scared from the idea what happend to them then the reality.

I've also herd that slimmer people recover faster,I'm not sure if that's true?!

Just take care of your self and dont push it.
