i just bought a house thats 17 years old with 2 original lennox a/c's. the lady that owned the house claimed she never used them since she rarely even lived in the house. they both work, but i was wondering since they were never used are the basically in new condition? and shoould last for a while or not?

20 years is about average my friend but it depends on the unit. I have worked on Janitrols which are considered junk by alot of mechanics and I have seen them last 20 years without a problem..the way that you describe it they have some more life in them but you do realize that they aren't as energy efficent as a new unit so you may want to consider that
