How soon after a c-section is it safe to get pregnant again?

I have 3 children, ages 4,2 and 4 months. I think i might be pregnant again. Is this even safe? being the fourth pregnancy only 4 months after a c-section? My husband thinks I am just being paranoid and I am only experiencing the side effects of the progesterone only birth control pills. Could that be?

Yes the pills could be making you feel a little odd, especially if you recently started taking them.

As far as how long to wait, I wouldn't advise anything sooner than a year. I waited 18 months in between mine to be safe. You need to give the incision time to heal. Even if you are on the pill, use condoms for now. They might suck, but your health is important!

Good luck and best wishes!!
Reply:I had a c-section too and my gynecologist advice me to wait at least 2 years prior to another pregnancy. She explained me something related the time needed for my internal body to heal completely, but honestly I don't remember very well.

Anyway, I've been waiting and now my son is 2 years.

Should be better you get medical advice in case you're really pregnant.

Congrats for your happy family!!!
Reply:Your doctor needs to make that call - but I think four months is too early. If you are pregnant, you will need extremely close monitoring to make sure your uterus doesn't tear etc. Many birth control pills do make you experience symptoms of pregnancy, so your husband could be right.
