Do i have to file taxes if i only received w/c and long term disability?

I didnt work at all last year because I had surgery, and only received W/C and Long*term disability do i still need to file and if so do i get money back without any taxes being taken out?

Workers comp isn't reported or taxable.





LT Disability might be taxable depending on what type it is.





Normally you don't get money back without anything being taken out. If you retired on disability though, and receive benefits under your employer's disability plan, until you reach minimum retirement age that is considered earned income so might qualify you for an earned income credit. If it's social security disability or some other type, no.
Reply:yes, you still need to file for income tax. You will more than likely owe money, if you had paid no tax; unless you have deductions to help your total payable to go down. I would suggest if you are going to continue to collect w/c, it would be best to ask them to take some tax off so it doesn't hurt you at tax time.
