What is themaximum amount of c-sections one is allowed to have?

I am the mother of five. I had the first vaginally. I had c-sections 2 years apart for the next three. There is a six year span from my fourth child to my fifth child who is now six years old. I am still young and if I wanted to have another baby, I know that I would have to have a c-section. Since I have already had four c-sectons, I am very concerned with the risk. Please assist. Thanks.

In the UK the doctors don't really recommend any more than three, my cousins wife has had three C-sections and wanted to have another baby but was strongly advised against it as she had only a one year age gap between the last two, that was almost five years ago and the doctors have recently told her they would be very worried of the scar tissue being to weak to hold together if her belly stretched even slightly more than they would want. As you are probably aware no one can guarantee what weight or fluid you will carry when your pregnant. I would strongly advise you to talk this thoroughly through with a Gynacologist.

I do wish you the very best of luck as you have had already had three C-sections then you could be one of the very fortunate few who heals up really well.
Reply:depends on your scar tissue it think, my sister had 3, 2 by emergency and last 1 was planned. doctors have said it would be dangerous for her to fall pregnant again as scar area is too weak to last full term.
Reply:Hi,

Normally it would be three, but as you have had 4 I would check with your Doctor before trying to get pregnant.

Only your Doctor can answer this question for you as it depends on the individual concerned.

Best wishes

Jo
