Isnt having vitamin C pills as good as having calcium pills, what is the difference btw the two?
They are two completely different things. Calcium is for your bones and your baby's bones. Vitamin C has a lot of uses (but actually, fighting off colds is not considered to be something that it does very well, based on the research). You can go here to find out what Vitamin C is for. http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/vi...

You need to make sure you are getting 1000-1200 mg of calcium per day, either through your diet or through supplements. Your prenatal vitamins likely do NOT have this much calcium in them because calcium interferes with iron absorption. You need to be counting up the amount of calcium in the foods you eat and in your prenatal, and then supplement it with another vitamin if you aren't getting at least 1000 mg. This is essential for your baby's bone development and the healthiness of your bones as well. Women who do not get enough calcium in pregnancy are much more likely to have osteoporosis later in life, because the baby sucks the calcium out of you if you don't give him/her enough.
Reply:You should be taking prenatal vitamins since you're pregnant. If you are you don't need to be taking anything extra. You could even be harming your baby if you take too much of any one vitamin. Ask your doctor.
Reply:Vitamin C is what you would get from eating oranges or stuff like that calcium is from milk and milk products.

Calcium builds bones and Vitamin C helps the immune systems the two have nothing in commen other than there both good for you. and if you are having bone pain you need to see your doctor. Bone pain is a VERY SERIOUS thing. It could be all types of things from arthritis to cancer I would make an appointment with a doctor as soon as you can...
Reply:Vitimin C and Calcium are two different vitamins. Vit. C helps keep away colds and Calcium keeps your bones strong. If you're taking pre-natal vitimins, they should have the RDA of both. You should be taking Folic Acid also.
