The A/C fan on my 2003 Chevy Malibu only works on levels 4 and 5. What is the likely cause?

I have already replaced the entire in-dash climate control module to no avail. What else should I check?

The A/C works great on fan levels 4 and 5 but the fan does not operate at all on the first 3 settings. Also, the Recirculate button often turns itself off to the Outside Air mode.

The contact points on your A/C Blower Switch and the resistor need to be looked into. The recirculate button may be prone to a leak in its vacuum connection.
Reply:There's a resistor block near the motor made up of three resistors. The smallest resistor being bad would take out speeds 1, 2 %26amp; 3. It's a bear to get out, and most people wouldn't bother if the fan works at all.
Reply:The resistor block could be shot and that controls the fan speeds.
Reply:you should look to the blower resistor it is in the bottom of the air box inside the car right up against the fire wall .it is tough to get to
Reply:my guess would be either

1) your blower motor switch

2) your blower motor resistor

i dont know if any of those would effect the outside air mode. but the the certain speeds working i would say the above.
Reply:most common is a bad resister board
