What do I do to to access the files on a remote C drive after I've connected to it?

I already connected to my brother's computer using "net use \\********\c" and it says it completed it successfully. What do I do now?

What do I do to to access the files on a remote C drive after I've connected to it?
Hi

If u have managed to connect to a comp in network with \\%26lt;ip/comp_name%26gt;\%26lt;drive%26gt; it should show you files/folder(s) which has been shared for access from network. Assuming that you are using windows, then you have to enable folder share at your bro's comp to access it from ur comp over network.

To enable the share say on C:

1. Create a folder named "TestShare"

2. Rt-click on it and click on "sharing and security"

3. Check on "Share this folder on network" and "Allow network user to change my files", the share name should be "TestShare".

4. Click on apply and ok.

5. Enjoy.

Please note if you are using any other OS the process may differ a lil. I have assumed that the two comps are running win win XP. However the concept is same.

Reply:Aside from the above, when you used that command, you should have specified what drive letter to associate with this connection.

Type in the "net use ?" command for more information.
Reply:once connected to another computer over a network before you can access the files on that computer the folders or driver need to be shared to do this open my computer on you brothers computer and right click on the c: drive and choose properties click on the sharing tab read what it says then click on the bit that warns you about sharing then put a tick in the box marked "Share this folder on the network" click apply wait a few moments for it to complete now you should be able to access the c: drive on you brothers computer
Reply:If you have an administrator account on brothers computer you can go to \\********\c$ to pop open a window to the remote c drive.

If you are connecting to a normal share use \\********\ and select any share folder that you have rights to.

Just type the \\********\c$ in the start menu run line.
Reply:click on "my computer"

%26lt;--- in the side bar there should be a link called

"My network places"

There should be a link to it in there?
