Is there a gas cost variance to run car A/C at different levels?

I am curious to know whether you use more gas by running your auto A/C at level 4, instead of level 1 for instance. Meaning, it pushes out more air, but does it use more gas to do so? If so, it is a lot more?

Don't know much about cars, but I do know that any way to save gas these days is always important to me!

Is there a gas cost variance to run car A/C at different levels?
No it just the blower to blow harder and faster. It's just blowing the cold air off the freon. Once the A/C compressor clutch kicks on, it's relying on engine speed at that point. The blower is electrical and it doesnt vary gas mileage level 1 or 4.
Reply:as long as the a/c is running, it really doesnt matter where you set the controls as the load on the engine will remain the same.
Reply:I understand you when you say you wanna save gas anyway you can.

As for your car saving fuel with the fan running at full blast (level 4). Doesn't even change the fuel economy of the engine. Cause the fan is electrical. The same if it's on level 1 or 4 no difference.

There is a difference if you have the option on your car for your air to me at normal or max. At max, the compressor comes on more often, thus putting more strain on the engine that uses more gas.
Reply:you can run it on any settings . your A/C compressor works the same whether you are on low or high speed . your fan runs on electric power so it doesnt have an effect on your fuel mileage . All you have to do really is be light on the gas pedal . that will be most fuel efficient, make sure your tires are at the proper pressure , and your engine is running in top condition. other than that if you really want to save gas drive with A/C off and your windows closed .

I just read, literally a few days ago, that using MAX A/C is best for your gas mileage as it re-circulates the air and does not have to continuously keep cooling fresh, moisture filled air. Once the air has cooled the a/c compressor does not have to work as hard anymore to keep the car cooled and, if you have an auto climate control feature, it turn off until the inside warms above your temp setting on the thermostat thus saving fuel.

If it were not on MAX, the compressor would run continuously attempting to cool air that is being drawn from the outside.

Good luck!:)
Reply:It makes no difference what setting it is on.

And the difference will be so small it will not be noticable.
