How long was your recovery from a C-section?

I will be having a C-section, the middle to end of June, and my husband is in the army. They will only allow him how ever much time the doctor says I need help for. I have an appointment next Tuesday, but I am curious, should I ask the doctor for a set ammount, what is the typical recovery time. I have three older boys and will be having twins.

How long was your recovery from a C-section?
Wow, you will have your hands full :) Congrats! The typical full recovery time is 6 weeks, however I personally was doing everything for myslef within just a few days after both of my c- sections. Talk to your doctor, be frank about your situation and let him know how full your plate will be.
Reply:Hi there, Tell your doctor to request that he is home for at least a month. You will not actually be feeling bad, but you need him there for a minimum of a month!

I had a C Section with my Daughter (Huge 10lbs4oz). They get you up right away in the hospital (like within 12 hours. You will be in the hospital in most cases for 5 days recovery, and then once you are out you are not supposed to drive for 2-3 weeks. You are also only allowed to go up %26amp; down stairs Once a day for the first week or two. Make sure you actually follow thier advice, and don't do too much because you can risk developing scar tissue at the incision site that will cause pain continually (on%26amp;off) for ever pretty much. Basically though I felt OK within a week of being home. I was moving around fine and there were no reall problems. Although it is major surgey that you need to take seriously it is a routine proceedure and you will be able to tak walks (although don't push it) toward the end of your first week home. One other thing that you need to keep in mind is that you are not supposed to lift anything more than 10lbs for at least 2-3 weeks so no carying your other children, pushing your vaccum, or carrying a laundry basket full of clothes (imagine... my daughter was more than 10lbs to start with!)

Good luck with the rest of you pregnancy and with your delivery! Make sure that you have lots of help set up for when your husband has to leave (I am sooo sorry for you both that he will have to go!), you will need help with your other children and the 2 new additions!

Congratulations!
Reply:you will need about 6 weeks to recover maybe longer maybe less everyone is so different.... i had my son c-section and i was in the hospital for 2 nights... and when they let me go home the doctor told me if it hurt don't do it... people couldn't believe that i was walking up stairs the same day they let me out i lived on the second floor... and was driving 2 days after i came home... so it is just gonna be what is right for you... good luck....

my obgyn told me that it takes 2 years to fully recover from a c-section just wanted to add that in....
Reply:I had a C section and my recovery time was 12 weeks. That is the safest amount of time for recovery for C section
Reply:I agree with most of the answers. The doctor will say your recovery will be 6 - 8 weeks. I had three nine pound baby boys three years apart. My youngest son is two and I agree

with Havanah_A - I am still recovering from that last one.

I personally think it took me three years to recover from

my first two c-sections.
Reply:after my c-section i was fine after 3 days..i needed some help with heavylifting but i was doin just fine maybe also cause i knew that my husband was about to come home for leave cause he was stationed in iraq during that moment...
Reply:You can't lift anything heavier than the babies for 4-6 weeks, so you really need someone with you a lot up until then. I felt fine (no pain or soreness) after 2 weeks, but we had a 15 month old so my husband (or someone) had to be there to get her out of her crib etc. (we did actually find that if we put the crib side down and put a step stool there she could climb out on her own!) So if you have to manage you probably can! Is this your first c-section? I found that I recovered more quickly after the second.
Reply:I had two girls and then twin girls and had to have a c section, generally it takes about 6 weeks. Mostly you cannot lift anything heavier than your baby. and you obviously should not have sex, or work out during this time.

and even though the recovery is generally 6 weeks, you will still be tender and sore longer. I still have some soreness now and then and it has been 2 and a half years.

and good luck getting him time off, my hubby is navy and they gave him 10 days.

congratulations!!!!
Reply:Boy, with three older boys and twins on the way, I would push the doctor to recommend as much time as possible! Six weeks is considered fully recovered, but at two weeks you can start to do most things again. I don't know what kind of house you live in, but I was told I could only do the stairs once a day for the first two weeks. You still shouldn't be lifting your older children, and since you're having twins you'll need extra help. Ask your doctor to write your letter stating that you need a minimum of one month of help from your husband. It can't hurt to ask, and if they only give him half the time it's still two weeks.
Reply:ive had one and i was in the hospital for 5days and needed my other half off work for a week after that because you are so sore and cant walk and it is very hard to pick the baby in and out of the bassinet
Reply:I have had 2 c-sections with my first i was in the hospital 3 nights with my second it was 2 nights but some women may need 4 or 5 it just depends. Also your recovery will be fast but you will be sore.I was walking really good the next day "considering".....Anyway good luck and the best to your husband!Oh yes recovery is 6 weeks but you will be getting around faster than you think
Reply:I had a csection at the end of January and I was in the hospital for 3 days.My mom came up to help me for the first week and by the second week I was feeling alot better but still a little sore.I also have 3 boys ages 6,5,3 and a girl 14 months to take care of.They say to take it easy for about 6 weeks but I did not follow the docters orders.Just talk to your husband and you docter and see what they gotta say.
Reply:my husband was only home with me for the first like 2 nights after i got home. but i had one baby and no other children. i would suggest asking him to take off at least until you get your staples out you feel allot better after that. but get as much time as you can with twins you are gonna need all the help you can get.
Reply:The recovery time takes about 6 weeks. No climbing stairs,

lifting or pulling.

CONGRATULATION !
