How do you recharge the a/c in a 1998 Saturn SW2?

A good friend of mine needs her A/C recharged, and since she doesn't have the $130 necessary to do it at the place I work at, I offered to just get the R-134 from Wal-Mart and do it myself. Problem is, I've only got a limited amount of experience in the matter, and I'd greatly appreciate any help offered to me. Thanks in advance!

How do you recharge the a/c in a 1998 Saturn SW2?
its real easy. you need to find a tube that has a blue top (like a bottle top). you also need a a pump to pump in the r 134 into it. you can get it at autozone for less than $10.
Reply:R-134 systems need the proper amount of refrigerant in the system to work properly. The only way to make sure is to remove all of the remaining refrigerant , evacuate the system (pull a vacuum on the system to remove air and moisture), and recharge it. Topping off with cans from WalMart might work but if it is empty the air needs to be removed or it won't work properly. Save your money and let a pro do it right, and fix the leak so it works next year too.
Reply:IT HAS 2 VALVE. A RED ONE WHICH IS HIGH

IT HAS A BLUE ONE WHICH IS LOW. WHEN DOING IT YOURSELF YOU ONLY USE THE BLUE(LOW) VALVE

WITH CAR RUNING ADD THE FREON(A/C GAS) THRU THE LOW VALVE UNTIL IT READ 35 THRU 40PSI ON THE GAUGE
Reply:you will need to buy a kit that has the fittings for 134a. then you also will need a small amount of ester oil to mx with the oil in the compessor already. then all you need to do is put the refrigerant in it. you will also need the tap line for the 134a. the car willl also need to be running to put the freon in it.
