How long do you have to wait between your first and second c-sections?

My wife and I just had our first child via c-section. The doctor told her that she would have to wait 18 months before getting pregnant again. Does anyone have any info on this subject?

How long do you have to wait between your first and second c-sections?
i have only had one baby and one c-section but i always heard a year. the reason is that if you get pregnant any sooner there is a chance that her uterus could rupture and possibly kill both her and the baby. but i think that the odds are very small that this would happen. i know someone who got pregnant about 2 months after she had a baby by c-section and lost the baby the Dr said that there was no were for the baby to attach due to all the scar tissue but i don't think that was because of the c-section just the pregnancy in general. here is a link to some info http://www.babyzone.com/preconception/fa...
Reply:I not guessing you have to wait any longer than her body will allow her to get pregnant.

It would be wise to take it slow, and let this one grow up a bit before you start talking about having another.

Honestly, the body doesn't recover quickly from a C-Section, since it is major surgery. Just because she is awake during it, doesn't mean it's simple or easier on her body.

Give her a break...she just had one!
Reply:Well you dont have to but to be on the safe side you should. They tell you that just in case the incision rips and your fully healed in the inside. I just know that when I went to the wic office they told me to make sure I dont get pregnant again until my son was a year old .
Reply:Well I gave birth to my first daughter on march 19, 2004 via c-section. Found out I was pregnant again and gave birth to my second daughter on February 27,2005. I am now due to give birth two my 3rd daughter on October 27, 2007. The doctors havent said anything to me about waiting. I did just fine. This will be my 3rd c-section in 3 1/2 yrs.
